Margaret Cousins Martin, 82, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, August 10, 2017, at her residence. She is the widow of William Dawson Martin.

Born in Rockingham Co., she is the daughter of the late George Burley Cousins and the late Helen Williams Cousins. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Baxter Martin; three brothers, William Cousins, John Cousins and Charles Cousins; two sisters, Florence Martin and Virginia Martin; three sons-in-law, Donald P. "Chucky" Martin, Timothy L. Chittum, Sr. and Carlton R. Padgett, Sr. and two grandchildren,...

Margaret Cousins Martin, 82, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, August 10, 2017, at her residence. She is the widow of William Dawson Martin.

Born in Rockingham Co., she is the daughter of the late George Burley Cousins and the late Helen Williams Cousins. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Baxter Martin; three brothers, William Cousins, John Cousins and Charles Cousins; two sisters, Florence Martin and Virginia Martin; three sons-in-law, Donald P. "Chucky" Martin, Timothy L. Chittum, Sr. and Carlton R. Padgett, Sr. and two grandchildren, Ronald K. Martin and Timothy L. Chittum, Jr.

Margaret was a faithful member of Amazing Grace Ministries and a retired employee of the Odd Fellows Home.

She is survived by her children, Hattie Marie Chittum, Kathy D. Martin and Phyllis A. Martin, all of Lynchburg, Betty L. Martin, Ted W Martin and his wife, Linda and W. Dawson Martin, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, all of Madison Heights, Charles D. Martin and his wife, Candy, of Union Hall and George S. Martin and his wife, Nicole, of Carrollton; a granddaughter that she raised as her own, Melissa A. Agnew; 12 grandchildren 34 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2017, at Whitten Park Ave. Chapel with Pastor Bill Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Pugh Family Cemetery in Amherst Co.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Whitten Park Ave. Chapel.
