Paul Daines Lerner, Jr., 78, of Rustburg passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Doris Irby Lerner for 54 years. Born April 20, 1938, in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Paul Daines Lerner, Sr. and the late Mattie Elizabeth Ryan Lerner.

Paul was a retired, self-employed used car salesman and a member of Mountain View Church of God. He was a fan of bluegrass music and loved talking to friends on the telephone.

Born April 20, 1938, in Campbell County, he was the son of the late Paul Daines Lerner, Sr. and the late Mattie Elizabeth Ryan Lerner.

Paul was a retired, self-employed used car salesman and a member of Mountain View Church of God. He was a fan of bluegrass music and loved talking to friends on the telephone.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, Charles Frederick Lerner, Sr. and Beulah Mae Lerner, who raised him as his parents; and a brother, Charles F. Lerner, Jr.

In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by three sons, Harold Lerner of Rustburg, Tony Lerner and his wife Margaret of Rustburg and Alan Lerner and his wife Kimmie of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Amorette Lerner and her husband Buddy Talbott of Rustburg; one sister Lorene Layne of Rustburg; four grandsons, McKinley Doss, Kyle Lerner and his wife Tabitha, Travis Lerner and Michael Lerner; two granddaughters, Stephanie Hutcherson and Dianna Doss; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thank you to all who prayed for and showed love to the family.

A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 16, 2016, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel with Pastor Lonni Wickard officiating. The family will receive friends until 4:30 p.m. following the service and at the residence.
